Regardless, whenever something strange is seen in the sky that we can’t readily identify, it becomes an item of wonder and speculation. Are we being visited by life from another planet? Unidentified flying objects (UFO’s) are just that, objects in the sky that can’t be identified. Not all of them can be explained away by swamp gas, ball lightning, lenticular clouds, top secret military projects or misidentifications of the planet Venus.
Some sightings remain unexplained and, though they are met with skepticism, some sightings display all the characteristics of intelligence and technology far beyond anything we can come up with on this planet.
I’d like to think that some of these sightings could just possibly be evidence of extraterrestrial visitation. I view any such sighting with a bit of cynicism, and I’d like to think I maintain my objectivity. However, sometimes the evidence is just overwhelming.
What follows are sightings of unidentified flying objects that are so well-documented and credible that they just might be the most believable cases ever for being otherworldly spacecraft.
10. The 1561 Nuremberg Event
In the early morning of April 4, 1561, many residents of Nuremberg, Germany were witness to hundreds of objects of various shapes and sizes darting through the air in various patterns as if involved in some massive air battle. The sighting lasted an hour and was described as a very terrifying experience. Hans Glaser, a printer of the time, depicted the wondrous event in a woodcut illustration and text he created that was included in a broadsheet some ten days after the event. The original illustration is now preserved in Zurich, Switzerland. Awestruck, he believed the incredible occurrence was a sign from God.
